5th week - Horror Movie

Ok....... beam detached, now what? Ghost? Yes!!! Swt.. So what is the story, well according to all the witnesses, they had been disturbed by unidentified being long hair white cloth floating around. Making matter worse, one of the worker had an accident the past weekend, pass away on the spot. This makes all the workers worrying around, and saying want to desert the haunted quarters. So monday, basically we messed with this matters.

Now that one story spout out, everybody saying their experience out, some say they saw it at the stor barang kes area, some say dug out one which is believed to be ancient tombstone, some say the security guards saw it floating around, some say they met a little child who just wanna play hide and seek with you, some say people calling their names at balai area, at the dark walkway, some say hearing ppl whistling soft songs in the balai at 6pm. We even stay at the office till night to see what happen that day. Wow. What cant happen at a site? you can find excitement, action, comedy, horror, success, failure at here. Satisfaction!

Ok ok. Let's be respectful here. Nothing much new, checking the progress of formwork, bar bending, archi brick and plaster works, do some confirmation and be the bridge between consultant and sub con, doing leveling here and there. Well, all in all daily routine. Oh! one more. the truss fabrication team from Kelas F came to Balai to starts their work. Man the drawing from lysaght bluescope is such a headache. But like they say once you get the hang of it, it actually helps a lot, simplified and you can get all the needed details from the drawings. Let's see on some photos, little lazy in elaborating more already.

4th Week Part 2. HEADACHE!!!!!

One hell of a problem occur this week. Upon concreting of the left over RC gutter at the back of the right wing, first floor level, parts of the beam structure detached from the column due to the weight of the RC gutter.

As what can be seen from the above picture, the 2 beam connecting the RC gutterdrain snap due to the weight of the gutter. So how did it happen?  Will go through it one by one. Firstly, the beam connect the structure to the is design to be too small, and the column connecting it is a hell of 150 x 150 stiffener column -___- Well cant fault it where we Civil dudes had to design according to architectural drawings. Sorry to be bias here, but lets face it, this is construction field, you cant get away from facing off with architects right? They draw we built, tadaaa world filled with Marvelous-beautiful-fantastic-wonderful-impossible building, only don't know how long can they stand ^^

Secondly, the beam snap. Cause of...? This

Saw the steel bar? Well This beam and column on the left side is concreted 3 months ago before the concreting of the right side beam starts. All the rebars are lay and we can inspect how much it anchored into the column. Well not until the beam snap, that the steel bar is actually just lay into few inches and not anchored at all. Meaning no anchorage provided. OKkkkkk.... Well onto private talks here, the sub con is famous for building "impossible defects" at the site. Kind of sensitive issue there, so I am not gonna move into there.

Later we found out that the structural drawing missed out 2 column suppose to be there to support the rc gutter. sorry that i don't have Autocad in this comp and cant show where is the location. All in all, design error occurs. That's what you get when the consultant release their own drawing without doing some super impose and cross checking

Oh well, complaining doesnt get us further. Don't blame and complain, better used the time to just solve the problems. Best solution. Initially the beam is 3 inches gap off. What we worry is that when rain comes, the weight of the rainwater will completely topple the whole thing. How we solve? That will be cover in future post. By the way, the overall structure is still standing is due to the presence of one 1000 x 300 column at the left side. Afternoon, emergency repair works starts, to our amaze, the gap increase into 6inches, over one
morning.

For now, when the crane arrive, the rc gutter is hang up to reduce the weight temporary. Then support is to be inserted under the base of the gutter beam to jack it up temporary. Well look at the sky, the downpour is coming. no wonder they always say, prison and police station is the worst project to be taken, since they always not smooth in completion. Hmm I might just believe in that saying. hahaha

That's all for now folks. Till then. Ciaoz

4th week! Part 1

Kuching Airport. Back to settle MUET

Several occasions happened on this week. Will list it out one by one. First thing, main task of mine this week is to mess with leveling. Massive leveling. Have to do level all over the Balai compound area, perimeter, and also within the building itself. Took me 2 days to finish off 100++ points everywhere.

 Gate R

Why? well few issues here. I was told that, due to some problems previously, the whole balai polis is higher than plan finish floor level by 8 inches. Damn! that's a shock. Therefore, we had to survey all the current location to get a grasp on current level and plan on the new finish floor level.

Finishing up the RC drainage

Well, that is what they had been telling me all along. Now i finally get what it means. First, Leveling is the hell most important thing and cant afford to get it wrong.

Formwork continue at Lower Roof Gutter and Dome area

Second, construction, who can't do it? Given enough material and workers and money, everyone can get it done, problem is whether you get it done correctly. And they always say post construction task is the hardest to handle, where all the unexpected or expected problem surface, and you got to think and act to solve it efficiently.

Met 1 construction manager who had been completing tons and tons of project, told me that don't mind that I missed all those huge construction of RC works before this, that i am here at the right time to learn how to solve all these surfacing problems. Archi finishing works and external works often cause more headache than others. Well guess what, he is right though. Period before completing the project and preparation for handing over is the worse nightmare. brrrrrrr..

When will it be completed -_-" Main question on our site

Ok Let's move on. I will split post of 4th week into 2 parts. Next!!!!
